Get started with a Robinhood spending account

Only existing Robinhood customers may open a Robinhood Cash Card and spending account. To sign up, log into your Robinhood account at robinhood.com.

After you open your spending account, you can use the Robinhood mobile app from the App Store or Google Play Store, or using the web version.

The Robinhood spending account gives you more ways to add money to your spending account:

  • Set up direct deposit: You can have your paycheck or government deposits like tax refunds deposited directly into your spending account.
  • Transfer funds: Link your bank account(s) and move funds between your Robinhood accounts
  • ACH transfers: Use your account number and routing number. The routing number identifies the financial institution. You can find your account number and routing number in your app going to Spending (dollar icon) → Settings → Account & routing numbers.

We work with partner banks to process transactions. The spending account and routing numbers are issued by JPMorgan Chase Bank. This means that transfers to and from your spending account using account number and routing number may appear as transfers to and from JPMorgan Chase Bank in your transaction history at other institutions.

The Robinhood spending account gives you more ways to add money to your spending account:

  • Use your ACH account number and routing number: The ACH account number is your spending account number with a prefix. The routing number identifies the financial institution. You can find your ACH account number and routing number in your app when you select Transfer.

  1. Go to Spending (money icon) → Let's get spending → Activate card → Yes
  2. Optionally, turn on Spend Alerts and Location Protection

To link your Robinhood Cash Card with other accounts, you’ll need your debit card number. You can find your card number, expiration date, and CVC by selecting the card in Spending.

What if I currently don’t have any accounts with Robinhood?

At this time Robinhood Money, LLC is not onboarding any new customers directly for the spending account or Robinhood Cash Card.

You can only sign up for the Robinhood Cash Card and a spending account after first successfully opening a Robinhood investing account.

Additionally, you can open a spending account through Robinhood Connect.

Will this affect my credit score?

No. This process will not affect your credit score.

Can I use my spending account before I get the physical card?

Yes. After activating your card in the app, you can do all of the following within your spending account and with your virtual card, once it’s activated in app:

  • Set up direct deposits with your account number and routing number
  • Set up Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay
  • Make online purchases
  • Pay bills using your virtual card or via ACH with your account number and routing number
What if I didn’t get a card?

To find out if your physical card is still on its way or to request a new physical card:

  1. Go to Spending
  2. In Debit Card, you can get the status of your card delivery.
  3. To order a new card, select Have you received your card, and then select No
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish up
How to close my account?

You can close your spending account as long as:

  • Your account balance is $0
  • You don’t have any pending activity (bank transfers, transactions, checks, disputes)
  • You must be unenrolled from round-ups

Keep in mind

After you close your spending account, your Robinhood Cash Card will no longer work and any new transactions will be declined.
